Chilling Tales

Stumble It! | del.icio.us | Digg It

Project Outline:

I was commissioned to work with the creative team at Lightbox to produce eye-catching and engaging animations / intros for a languages website. The mood and theme for the work will be portrayed in the introductory animation. The work varied from key frame character animation to short editing films.

The series of short animations introduced users to MYLO, a new way to learn languages. see mylo.dcsf.gov.uk for more information. The animations aim to give an insight to how best use MYLO, its resources and its key functions.

Project Experience:

In After Effects I animated characters and built the scenes to give a flavour for the activity. The main technique was to composite the scenes in pseudo 3D and add the character. For the characters mouth I filmed someone mouthing the words and time manipulated this to make it drift in and out of sync which expressing strange movements. There was quite a bit of 'randomness' added to each scene including lighting and movements to give the whole piece and 'unsettled' feel.

If you watch closely you will see my cameo as a painting on the wall.
